The London Badgers Baseball program celebrates another milestone as standout player Ty Wilson announces his commitment to the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons. A program known for its excellence on and off the field, Hutchinson CC represents the next chapter in Wilson’s promising baseball journey.
Finding the Right Fit
For Wilson, Hutchinson stood out not only for its competitive edge but also for its sense of community.
“The Blue Dragons program isn’t just a team, but a family,” Wilson shared. “The attitude and effort the players and coaches bring to the field match my approach to baseball. The facilities are top-notch, filled with history from past teams and maintained with care.”
This strong alignment with his values made Hutchinson an easy choice for Wilson, who values both camaraderie and excellence.
A Foundation Built with the Badgers
Wilson credits his years with the London Badgers for preparing him for this next step.
“My time with the Badgers taught me both the skills of the game and invaluable life lessons—courage, determination, commitment, and hustle,” he said. “From hitting techniques to pitching approaches, the coaching staff prepared me for every aspect of the game.”
Under the guidance of coaches Mike Lumley, Larry Hazel, and Chuck Roberts, and with unwavering support from his family, Wilson developed not only as a player but also as a person ready for the demands of collegiate athletics.
Goals for the Future
At Hutchinson, Wilson aims to grow in all areas.
“My biggest goal is to improve on the field, in the classroom, and in the weight room,” he explained. “I’m particularly excited to develop my hitting abilities and physical strength while contributing to a competitive program.”
Looking further ahead, Wilson aspires to transition to an NCAA Division I program after his time at Hutchinson, using the exposure and development opportunities JUCO offers.
Embracing New Challenges
The jump to JUCO baseball brings new demands, but Wilson is preparing both mentally and physically.
“I’m pushing myself as hard as possible in training and education,” he noted. “The intensity and time commitment required at Hutchinson will help me prepare for bigger challenges in the future.”
He’s especially looking forward to high-stakes rivalry games and the possibility of competing in the JUCO World Series alongside other “competitive and ruthless players.”
Advice for Aspiring Players
For young players considering the JUCO route, Wilson emphasizes the importance of hard work and thoughtful decision-making.
“Always work hard, even when it doesn’t feel important—it builds character and skills that will help you throughout life,” he advised. “When choosing a school, find a place where you can grow and improve, both in baseball and in life.”
