Trent Lamb's Journey from London Badger Baseball to Rich Mountain University Success
Trent Lamb, a former standout from the London Badger Baseball program, is making a name for himself at Rich Mountain University in Arkansas. Reflecting on his college baseball journey so far, Lamb reveals how his experiences with the Badgers have laid the groundwork for his success and resilience in collegiate athletics.
A New Chapter Full of Challenges and Rewards
“My college baseball journey has been great,” Lamb shared. He described the excitement of meeting new teammates from diverse backgrounds, spanning multiple U.S. states and even the Bahamas. But it hasn’t been without its challenges. “Being far from home, managing 4-hour practices, and balancing schoolwork have all tested me,” he admitted. Yet, the payoff is undeniable. “Playing college baseball has always been a dream of mine. To actually be here and live that dream is the ultimate reward.”
Translating Badger Skills to College Success
Lamb attributes much of his smooth transition to Rich Mountain to the rigorous preparation he received with the London Badgers. “The training—both indoor and outdoor workouts, practices, and lessons—mirrors what I experience now in college,” he explained. One standout takeaway was the concept of ‘Badger Time,’ which taught players to be 15 minutes early for practices. “It’s a habit that has given me an edge at college, where some teammates initially struggled with punctuality.”
Lessons That Last
The Badger program instilled more than just physical training; it ingrained a strong work ethic and fostered high-level competition. “The most valuable lessons were learning to compete fiercely with my teammates and gaining insights from experienced coaches,” Lamb said. These lessons are proving essential as he navigates the competitive college baseball landscape.
Adapting to College Competition
While the level of competition in college baseball is notably higher, Lamb feels prepared. “The biggest difference is the internal competition—proving you can earn and keep your position,” he explained. “College teams have bigger rosters, so staying at your best is crucial.”
Mentorship That Made a Difference
Lamb credits Mike Lumley and Bob Lofgren as particularly influential figures in his development. “Every coach I had made an impact, but Mike and Bob were pivotal. Their knowledge and approach made my transition to college baseball much easier,” he said. “Without them and the other coaches, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Mental Strength and Preparation
Training with the Badgers also prepared Lamb for the mental demands of college baseball. “The intensity of practices and games with the Badgers required a positive attitude and mental toughness. My current coaches always emphasize, ‘You have to be mentally strong to play college baseball,’ and I already had that instilled in me,” Lamb said.
Advice for Aspiring Badgers
To current London Badger players, Lamb offered advice drawn from his own experiences: “Hard work is the biggest factor in getting to college baseball. You have to be motivated to keep improving, and never overlook academics—school is your number one priority.”
Memories That Inspire
One of Lamb’s most cherished memories from his Badger days is playing at the Michigan and Notre Dame stadiums. “Those games were defining moments that solidified my desire to play college baseball,” he said. He also fondly recalled the camaraderie built with coaches and teammates and, of course, “Bob and his one-liners,” which he’ll never forget.
As Trent Lamb continues to thrive at Rich Mountain University, he carries with him the skills, discipline, and memories from his time with the London Badger program, inspiring his drive and resilience every day.
