Carson Lumley of London stars as pickup in national peewees win
The star of the North York 13U peewees that won the national baseball championship is from London.Carson Lumley, a shortstop and pitcher with the London Badgers, was picked up by North York for its national tournament appearance in Repentigny, Que., this past weekend.

The star of the North York 13U peewees that won the national baseball championship is from London.Carson Lumley, a shortstop and pitcher with the London Badgers, was picked up by North York for its national tournament appearance in Repentigny, Que., this past weekend. Teams are allowed to pick up players when they appear in national championships.North York made the right selection.Lumley had a big tournament on the mound and in the field.He pitched nine innings for North York, winning two games and striking out 17. He was selected the most valuable player in two games.Lumley also batted .569 over six games and earned the award for the defensive player of the tournament.His North York team went 6-0 during the tournament and won the gold medal with an 8-0 whitewashing of Saskatchewan.Two weeks ago Lumley's father Mike Lumley, who runs the Badgers, coached the 18U midget Badger team to a national championship midget win in a memorable 16-11 win over the Tecumseh Thunder. That tournament was held in London.
